What is the hiring process like at Planet Fitness?

Benefits at the time were decent under the particular franchise and the job was fairly simple.

At the time of my employment this location was a different franchisethan it is as of this review (2024). The franchise was highly particular with who they hire and who moves up. Owners friends, S/O's were at the top tier and they were extremely discriminate on their promotions. Abusive and unfair expectations with a particular gender and a lack of accountability towards the other. Management and upper management typically dated within and were all friends so if you weren't liked by one you would not last to the horde.

My coworkers are great and it’s a good job to meet people and socialize.

Only $13 an hour and they require you to stand the full 8 hours and phones can be locked in a safe if they deem necessary. Managers WILL take up for the company, they’re not on your side at all. A lot of cleaning and heavy lifting for the pay as well. Members can get rude as per any customer service job. Got injured on the job and management didn’t even know the correct process to handle it.

If you are looking for a job to tide you over until something else comes along perfect, but as management get a year experience in and take your skills to another managerial position. As a manager for planet fitness NFP, it’s a very stressful job. The franchise owners have no idea how to run the company. They pay staff $11 which leads to high overturn rates when that staff member finds something that pays more. Managers make 2015 pay as AGM start at $37k and GM at $48k and the pay is not worth the stress. You’re almost begging people during the interviews to hire them and that goes especially for the overnight position which pays $13 an hour. AGM position is the worst as you do everything a GM does without the pay and you have the worst schedule working 2nd shift 5 days a week and if your overnight calls out your the one staying until 6am. You find yourself bored all shift as you stand at the front and clean a couple things during a full work day.
