Great way to step into the animal industry, not good long term.
Pros
- Flexible Scheduling - Great way to gain animal handling experience if you're looking to go into the Animal industry (Vet school, Volunteering, etc.) - Play with dogs and cats all day - Nice coworkers
Cons
- BEWARE: "CLOPENING" SHIFTS (Close the night before, open at 6am the next day) - Schedule changes without notice (i.e "Yeah I changed your shift to 6:15am-2:15pm last night, why didn't you show up?" - Inconsistent/Poor Management (Management usually has limited knowledge about duties in the back, good luck if everyone calls out on your shift and you're closing alone) - No room to move up within the company (manager usually played favorites) - Subtle discrimination - Low Pay - No help from HR - Consistently increases responsibilities the longer you're employed (leading shifts, social media, etc.) with no pay increase
