Toxic management culture, avoid at all costs

      Sales
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Reasonably nice office in London and flexibility to work from home.

      Cons

      - Management team have completely unrealistic expectations and no idea how to get to where they want to be. They’ll change direction enough to give you whiplash. - Toxic culture where you are made to feel like just a number. Sales will always be prioritised over employee wellbeing. - You’ll likely be given a job to do that is completely different from the one you applied for. People will leave every month and you will just be expected to pick up their work. Many roles are not backfilled, yet the output of the team is expected to stay the same. - So much time is spent in internal meetings, ‘deep diving’ into issues and creating action plans that never get actioned because there isn’t enough resource to do them. - Internal processes are ridiculously complex for the size of the company, so getting anything done is a slow and painful process. - Everything is a song and dance to appease the investors. Targets are completely unachievable. - The best you can hope for as a reward for hard work is a ‘Hyperfive’… an automated email ‘thank you’. No monetary benefit, no pay rises and no clear career progression or support from HR.

      Life at Hyperoptic

      Fibre field engineer
      Former employee
      London, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Good work life balance, if you get the work done early can head home. I used always be home by 2. - free internet for employees - free private healthcare and the ability to buy products such as tv’s through a work scheme - company pay for parking in areas with ringo or PayByPhone

      Cons

      - management could send you far away for jobs. I lived in south London and some days I’d be in north London - sometimes management would add extra jobs without notifying you - rental vans have no racking

      Cons

      - Pace isn't for everyone, if you like fast pace and challenge then this is the place for you! - Office in Hammersmith - not central but nice open plan offices with a good vibe

      Good place to work

      Anonymous employee
      Current employee
      Belgrade, Central Serbia
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Different benefits, like additional time off, birthday day off, working from anywhere 2 weeks, sweet Tuesdays, prolonged paternity leave etc For those who are handworkers and good performance, career progression happens fairly often You get exposure to leadership teams and seniors in the business because the company is relatively small, and it is great for development Great work/life balance, work is not overbearing and I don't think a lot of people experience burnout Trips to the UK/Serbia office

      Cons

Used to work in Villas in Serbia, but now we are more corporate and work in a business building, and we don't have parking provided by the company

      Great potential - Poor processes

      Regional manager
      Current employee
      London, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Nice office in West London - some good people, the business has a great potential. Good career progression. Do not get involved in things like identity politics.

      Cons

Poor ability to get anything done, directors commit to large tasks they do not have the facilities, processes or systems in place to deliver. Training for their engineers and tools is so poor and miles behind competitors.
