What is the hiring process like at Egnyte?

      Egnyte reviews

      A Candid Perspective

      Finance manager
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

I don’t usually write reviews, but after seeing a misinformed post misrepresenting our Finance department and its leadership, I felt it was only fair to add my perspective and respond with facts. The claim that our Finance team, or our Finance leader, blocks hires is simply false. As strategic partners to leaders across Egnyte, our role is to provide thoughtful analytics and decision support rooted in data and financial discipline. This often creates a natural and healthy friction, as we challenge assumptions and ensure alignment with company priorities. While Finance is part of the approval process for headcount requisitions and offers, our focus is on maintaining compensation equity across roles while operating within established budget parameters. Hiring decisions are ultimately made by the hiring managers and executives who own the budgets and teams. Suggesting otherwise reflects a misunderstanding of how our company operates, and how Finance, in particular, embodies Egnyte’s values of candid conversations and transparent partnership. What’s even more disappointing is the tone directed at a female Finance leader who has consistently championed women across the company. I know from experience that she has actively supported and helped empower several female leaders, including, but not limited to our VPs of HR, Sales EMEA, and Pricing & Deal Desk. In fact, she currently has a majority-female team reporting directly to her, and she intentionally works to add diverse, qualified voices to the table wherever possible. Constructive feedback is healthy and welcome, but false claims, especially those aimed at someone making a real impact, are not. If you’re reading this and are considering Egnyte, know that while no company is perfect, there are many people here, including in Finance, who care deeply about building a better, more inclusive place to work.

      Cons

It’s unfortunate that our company’s official response to the original review didn’t address these inaccuracies. We missed an opportunity to stand behind one of our strongest female leaders—someone who leads with integrity, fairness, and a genuine commitment to building a strong, inclusive team.

A Culture of Discrimination and Toxicity

      Marketing
      Former employee
      Mountain View, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

A lot of smart people in the organization that just need the latitude to do their jobs without the constant scrutiny.

      Cons

Many of employees are concerned about female gender representation at this 1200-person company. As of 2025, our executive leader of People (who is female — and the only one!) isn't even featured on the company website, which sends a problematic message. This is sadly part of a much broader issue within the organization, and the executives. Recently, a qualified female candidate withdrew from our interview process specifically citing our many Glassdoor reviews about gender imbalance and the apparent absence of women in leadership. When I mentioned we actually do have female leaders, they responded that their invisibility was even more concerning. Particularly troubling is a particular leader in the finance department who has actively contributed to and historically blocked female hires—and disturbingly, this particular individual is themselves a woman. These individuals not only perpetuate a discriminatory culture but also lead through fear, intimidation and consistently demonstrate degrading and backstabbing behavior towards employees and even their leadership colleagues across the organization.

      Wonderful HR and recruiting group

      Senior recruiter (contract)
      Former contractor

      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

I worked as a contract recruiter at Egnyte until 2022. Some of the people I worked with have retired but hope the work environment has not changed significantly. The environment at Egnyte was extremely positive and the people I worked with in both HR and recruiting were exceptional.

      Cons

While the HR/ Recruiting organization was top notch, some of the senior staff seemed to struggle with high-level decisions (go public, not go public etc) that affected the hiring process. In time, I'm sure this has been or will be corrected.

      Great Culture

      Account manager

      Pros

Love the culture and the team. Great experience in the office. Bosses were very supportive and celebrated wins and I felt like did a great job of understanding losses and learning from them.

      Cons

In my role, we were very limited with our number of accounts. A lot of the accounts were getting moved to new business folks which never made much sense to me. They also keep hiring account managers and taking accounts away which limits earning potential.

      Not a place for women

      Sales engineer
      Former employee
      Raleigh, NC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Great product, competitive pay, quality workers, financially stable.

      Cons

Don’t work here if you’re a woman. You’ll always be second class. First are Indian males. Then Israeli males. Then all other men. They pushed out our top notch executives that were women and replaced them with more Indian males. CEO complained about having to meet “female quota” for hiring and was dumb enough to say that on social media. Google “Egnyte hiring quotas” and an unflattering article will appear that supports this. Read it for yourself and think if this is the person you want as your leader. Beyond that, CEO suffers from founders syndrome. You’ll never make a penny in equity and basically be working all the time. No one is happy - all the culture on social is about as fake as the 5 star reviews on this site.
