low productivity, low efficiency, low motivation to do a great job, toxic people stay here for decades and make good workers want to leave, some people retire early because they can't stand it anymore. Supervisors sometimes are poor at problem-solving even simple things, and protect staff who are not treating others well. What I realized after working here for 8 years is that most of the problems here have come from the management level not doing things correctly.

Job security, good salary, great benefits, can move around a lot, you meet new people, diverse (at least from the management down, not so much in senior leadership),

if you're non-union you have way less options to move around then unionized workers so you essentially get stuck in your role. Senior leadership is not very diverse and a lot of people are in their roles because they've been with the City for a long time, not because they have the actual skills. The people that work under a lot of managers are more knowledgeable and have the actual soft skills to excel in a managerial role but they're never chosen for them.
