Cons
Inconsistent feedback from management regarding my performance. I consistently received positive remarks as a new hire, and the next thing I was suddenly terminated (within a week) for performance issues during my company-approved vacation, even though I have never received any verbal warnings or write-ups. Prior to this, I turned down another retail opportunity as upper management claimed it was against company policy to be working for another retail company while employed at Brandy, despite there being no specific clause that prohibits such employment upon reviewing my employment contract; I still willingly complied to show my commitment and dedication to the company. They assured me that I made the right decision, emphasizing this was a long-term employment position with great potential for growth. To make matters worse, they still owe me my pay, as I wasn’t compensated during my last pay cycle prior to the termination.
In addition, Brandy Melville lacks inventory organization. When a customer asks an employee whether something is in stock or where to find an item, there is no direct system for employees to reference to see if that specific item is in the store. The only resource is the Brandy Melville general website, which does nothing to inform you of the product in relation to the store. All knowledge of the store's inventory is stored solely in the employees' minds, which gets even more difficult as things get moved around, removed, and added daily. This system, or lack thereof, can seem intimidating at first, but is adaptable with some effort and determination, especially if you work multiple days in a row. You'll thrive in this environment if you enjoy mental challenges and memory games.
