How is management perceived at Brakes?

No pros towards the end

Poor management, I had issues working there and was treated badly by other staff and when I told management about it I was advised to quit, they do not care about the staff unless your are already friends with management

Communication could be improved within departments

Money is good, Overtime is good. The canteen serves warm full meals at a very reasonable price.

Racist. Some of management blatantly racist, To the point where on of the high up management members on nights was sacked due to making racist comments. Hard graft, long shifts. High targets to hit

Pros of the job is of course the pay, but it then depends on how you look at work life when it comes to pros and cons. Being realistic, if you enjoy driving a class 2, multi drop, meeting people, regular customers (free food and drinks), chance of a regular route or area at least, lone working then you've got it in the bag working for brakes. I personally have had a very good experience with the management team, they have been very understanding, sympathetic and helpful where needed. Bottom line is, you come in, work your hours, do things properly and you cant go wrong, simple. Also, staff sales, tomahawk steaks, 40% off, yes please. Plenty of savings on what would be our weekly shop, including reduce prices on website stock.

Some of the downsides is the hours, yes we have long days but at the same time, if you know how tacho rules work then you cant argue doing a long day, just know you'll be owed hours at the end of the reference period, here's to extra days off! Another con is that there is no overtime, not if you work your full allowance of tacho hours, if you work less hours, I.e a short route regularly, then you will have hours spare for overtime.
