      Pros

National company and easy to transfer, easy to pick up over time that can come with bonuses and extra pay

      Cons

The pay is not great for EMTs, but room for advancement

      Decent place to get started

      Pros

Good opportunities to move up and grow your career with the company if you’re looking for long term employment. It’s also a good place to learn and gain experience. A lot of good training opportunities are offered as well. MOST employees are friendly and helpful even management.

      Cons

First thing to note is there is NO perfect private EMS company all will have their own issues and BS to put up with. Shifts are periodically picked based on seniority so don’t expect to get a good schedule when you first start. Gossip can spread like a high school at times.

      Pros

I have worked for AMR for almost 15 years, in multiple roles and several states during my tenure. In my opinion, one of the best parts of this organization is the ability to grow with the company. If you are looking for upward mobility and the opportunity to develop in your career then AMR is the company you are looking for.

      Cons

As with most large companies sometimes information can move slowly or be siloed at times. However, the organization is making great strides to address and remedy this concern.

      Pros

      - flexible as part time - many different shifts available - good health benefits - long and short hours available - can make your own hours (min. 6 hour shifts with a partner) - solo shifts available - can choose who you work with for the most part - management always available for consultation - supportive staff and management - free CME's available - can get paid to do CME's for full-time workers - work union is always willing to fight for you to be heard - discounts for other classes (ACLS, PALs, EKG, BLS) - great for learning acute healthcare experience - clinical consultations with management always available by phone call - medical direction available by phone call - management and clinical staff are good at reminding you of things that need to be completed to maintain employment (CME's, cert renewals, etc.)

      Cons

      - not a lot of PTO - no sick leave (sick leave is grouped in with "PTO") - policies are strict - pay increase is based on economic growth, not on performance and is minimal - minimal opportunities for career advancement (but that's just EMS in general anywhere really)

      Pros

I've worked for AMR for the past four years. The easiest way to explain is that I've seen a lot and learned a lot. I have made relationships that will last a lifetime and have some of the best memories while working. GMR has a lot of different career opportunities on the website for current employees, and career advancement is easy to obtain as long as you put the effort in.

      Cons

Beyond our desk supervisors, management is still very tight nit with corporate. I specifically work nights and weekends to stay away from higher ups. We have administrative staff who are "paramedics" who worked the road long ago who now run either CQI and constantly change the Image Trend charting system and is not as streamlined compared to other companies I've seen use the service. Also it's city EMS, patients that we encounter range from pleasant to abusive.

      Pros

The main people you work with can be amazing. Your direct leadership could be some of your best friends. The people i worked with on a daily basis are like family. Direct supervisors are amazing.

      Cons

Pay– you have to work a crazy amount of OT just to make a liveable wage. Culture– culture can be great but also bad because it's just everyone complaining about the same person or thing. There is nothing about the office that makes it feel inviting. Time off Benefits– very basic Career opportunities– No room to grow unless you want to relocate to another city. Waiting for someone to leave, quit or get fired doesn't do anything since they will just consolidate their jobs and give their duties to others instead of hiring a replacement. Upper management– You never hear or see them unless it's them coming in to tell everyone that they're losing their jobs in a few weeks. Was here for over 5 years and never saw upper management.
