Pros

After joining the Silk Initiative, I have learned a lot and dived deeper in the industry of consulting. Coworkers here are always helpful and everyone is working firmly as a team member. The culture here also encourages everyone to be truly confident in what they are doing and speak out every thought.

Cons

Recently a bit too much workload and considering the workload we have, the salary is a bit low.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience at TSI. We’re so happy you’ve found it a great experience so far and one where learning and growing are a positive constant. It’s especially great to hear how TSI encourages confidence, something we’re really proud of. Regarding workload and compensation, we do recognize that we ask a lot of our staff and that end of year can be a tough time with so much to deliver for our clients. Thank you for your energy and enthusiasm. We hope the generous compensation TSI offers, as well benefits including full global travel insurance, healthcare, extra paid time off over Christmas, not needing to come into the office on mandatory government work days, education stipend, and various international trips throughout the year, help to reconcile how you feel about pay rates during these busy times. We do hear you though. Since we have just finished annual bonus announcements and reviews, this presents a great opportunity to make sure you and your manager have a discussion if you feel your salary is not commensurate with what is required. A big thank you, again, for your review and for working hard to make TSI the best possible place to build a career!

Pros

Work: Experienced brand consultancy and team in F&B industry. Apart from focusing in clients related work, they spend numerous efforts in reading, public sharing and publishing online materials, always ensure to equip themselves with the most up-to-date trends/ insights in the market, which highly benefit the clients and build the team’s expertise. High quality deliverables within a short timeframe is always possible in TSI. There are always skilled consultants who are willing to share, as well as the well-organized ‘TSI library’, where one may always find rich and useful contents from the internal server. In terms of communication style, TSI is frank and transparent to each other (including clients) in a professional manner. All parties are aligned and hence awesome collaboration. Clients appreciate the professional advice and do come back for multiple projects as they deeply feel connected and understood by TSI. People: TSI’s corporate culture is more friend-oriented. The team respects each others, laugh and share while working together to achieve company/ project goals. The company and team grow at the same time. Always a positive vibe. Effective resource planning. The workload is well-balanced, and each of us is able to offer helping hands when necessary. Willing to invest in young talents, e.g. allowed juniors/ new joiners to attend business events and build connections. Culture: Everyone learns together. It's never an easy task to listen and advise, or motivates teammates to share comfortably (e.g. project sharing on every Monday meeting). Forgiving. People make mistakes and occasionally affect the bigger team. The senior team offers kind reminders and grant you the chances to learn and improve, in a positive manner.

Cons

If there is one thing to point out, the visa application process takes long to approve and much tedious as instructions are usually not clear. This has a part to do with the external partner agency.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and thorough review of your time at TSI. While short, we are thrilled you had a positive experience. While we do have things to work on, we’re glad you’ve sensed TSI’s camaraderie, high quality of work, and positive feedback environment. We especially appreciate your candid comments on the visa application process. As most are aware, getting a visa as a foreigner in China is not an easy thing and often presents great difficulty keeping up to date with changes in government requirements. Since your time here, we’ve selected a new agency to handle our visa applications and have set up stronger internal guidelines to try to keep this as stress-free as possible and a more streamlined process. We appreciate everything you’ve done for us and wish you all the best in your future career.
