Pros
1. Dynamic team: I was sitting under the procurement organization which went through a restructure a couple of years ago. The company invested a lot in procurement and brought in fresh bloods with diversified backgrounds. A lot of interesting projects to work on and you won’t get board. One upside working at the headquarter is that you get chances to work on assignments from the executives or SK Capital.
2. Great culture. I was surrounded by great people (smart, hard working and approachable), both leaders and teammates. Leaders of the team know where we are headed to and what approaches are needed. They also listen to and take advices from team members. The team and the company recognize and reward values that employees make.
3. Career growth. When you work in a role, you work with other functional groups and gain different skill sets. This creates a lot of opportunities for career growth within the organization.
4. Work-life balance. Though the company policy is 3 days a week in the office, but there is flexibility if things come up (illness or family commitments, etc.) that allow to work remotely. Workloads are reasonable. Managers and leaders never expect you to work overtime or on weekends unless for very urgent dues.
Cons
The chemical industry overall is currently experiencing a down cycle with the over-capacity in Asia. For this reason, the company’s sales and profitability is negatively impacted.
