A sinking ship

Pros

No? This is a joke right?

Cons

This role initially felt like the answer to my prayers, but it quickly became one of the most disappointing professional experiences I’ve had. The extremely high turnover is not a coincidence it reflects deeper issues with leadership and overall culture. Many of the leaders with strong experience and integrity have already left. What remains is a leadership team that often lacks transparency, honesty, lacks qualifications, avoids accountability, and appears unprepared to effectively lead teams through challenges. There is a noticeable pattern of overpromising to employees, whether around stability, growth, bonuses, or expanded responsibilities …only for those same employees to be let go shortly after. The timing and communication around these decisions feel inconsistent at best, and at worst, intentionally misleading and unethical. Layoffs are handled in a way that feels impersonal and disconnected from the real impact on people’s lives. Jobs are people’s livelihoods, and communication during difficult moments matters. Unfortunately, there was a consistent lack of directness and honesty, paired with an avoidance of difficult conversations and simply caring. What stood out most was the absence of real leadership. Instead of coaching, supporting, and advocating for their teams, there was often a lack of true help and engagement. Most times, it felt like more energy was spent discussing/ gossiping about employees than actually helping them succeed. I also observed concerning patterns in how clients were managed, including a lack of transparency and dishonesty which raises questions about long-term trust and sustainability. Overall, the organization feels unstable and poorly led. Anyone considering joining or currently there should take a close look at the environment and leadership structure before making long-term decisions.

Not So Elite Anymore

Pros

The good parts of working here were the remote working environment, access to many industry tools, and the teams/people you work with. There were some great managers that really cared about their teams and wanted to make things better.

Cons

As many before me have stated, the merger between RYNO and Blue Corona could not have been executed any worse than it was. Cross team leadership communication became a thing of the past. Team members were laid off after we were told there would be no layoffs, after the whole company had a retreat and event costing millions of dollars. Intrusive tracking software was added to everyone’s computers without their knowledge. Client work lapsed because the systems being used across teams simply broke and processes that used to work no longer existed. There really seems to be no clear goal for the future at this point. And all the clients are noticing and leaving in droves to other agencies (same with the employees who can).

Pros

The original founders were the heart of the business and, until their exit, remained deeply committed to its stabilization. Their efforts to return to day-to-day operations were a necessary attempt to restore the original RYNO mission of prioritizing client growth above all else.

Cons

What the majority of RYNO employees don't realize is that the company's current instability is a direct result of the BC administration, specifically the leadership transition involving former executive appointees, who dismantled functional systems in favor of failing ones. This era was marked by a fundamental lack of transparency and a leadership style that prioritized internal politics over employee engagement and operational health. During this time, the founders were stripped of their authority, and the company's culture was systematically eroded, leading to a massive performance deficit and decline in revenue. When the founders were asked to take over day to day company operations again, they attempted to course correct, but the damage from the previous tenure, manifesting in escalating client churn, was already too entrenched. The subsequent revolving door of CEO appointments following the founders' brief return has only compounded the issue, and client churn is higher than ever. The lack of board-level oversight from the parent company has created a vacuum where these series of short-term executive appointments have failed to address the root causes of the brand's decline, resulting in the current layoffs that happened in February of this year. The disenfranchisement seen in recent reviews isn't a mystery; it is the logical fallout of years of mismanagement and a departure from the mission that made RYNO successful. The current C-suite is now tasked with navigating a formidable uphill battle against years of collateral damage.
