The biggest letdown was the management. Blatant favoritism, where only the ones close to the management team got the biggest slices of the pie, so to speak. Those favorites had a monopoly on the promotions, even to the point of having pseudo-positions created just to justify giving them raises. Salaries were wildly inconsistent, especially between staff of different nationalities with same job scopes - and sometimes, even those among the same nationality had some strangely inconsistent salary ranges.
And speaking of salaries, oh, the salary delays were nightmarish.
