Pros

Some good, talented people. Some really great products too... but that's about it. Certainly not enough pros to fill the twenty word minimum Glassdoor requires.

Cons

Senior management treats employees like pawns for their own advancement. Motivation and good morale is zero. The corporate culture here is basically the "haves" and the "have nots". Unless you are either one of those select "favorite" employees or in a senior position forget about any pay raises, bonus, etc. (Many people just got let go with the Canon acquisition and the remaining ones just got a demotion in their titles plus no more bonus plan going forward.) If you are "favored" it has nothing to do with how well (or badly) you do your job. In general you will just be expected to work harder every year to just make the same compensation. Certain departments are pathetically incompetent but management will turn a blind eye and expect you to cover for them instead of them fixing the real problem. Things are not looking to improve with Canon either... not a good place to work... and I've been there since 1998.

Pros

Company has been bought by Canon, so look up their Glassdoor reviews, as the Oce name will disappear by the end of the year. Canon has three main printing groups: Canon USA, which runs all groups, Canon Business Solutions (CBS) which sells copiers, and now Oce. Oce itself is three different companies under one roof: Production Systems (PPS), Document Systems (DPS) and Wide Format (WPS). PPS is the oldest (and snobiest) group. You can make the most money there. DPS is a typical "burn and churn" copier sales group, with high employee turnover, and wide format sells exactly that- wide format printing devices. Salaries can be quite good if you get into the right group, but all this is subject to change in the next few months.

Cons

Print market has been dying a slow death for years, and jobs are predicted to decline continuously. Canon benefits are not as robust as Oce's were, and Oce has had no raises for years. CBS and DPS sell exactly the same portfolio of products, so layoffs are coming soon. Company is suffering "brain drain", as some highly qualified employees leave the company prior to the Canon takeover. Oce has several bad habits: -rehiring people it once let go for not producing- somehow thinking they will do better the second (or third) time around. They don't. -Overt favoritism -Unprofessional managerial conduct, including flagrantly ignoring office trysts between managers and subordinates that result in promotions and salary increases for women that "play the game." It's shocking, really, that this goes on so openly in 2012. -Many overpaid workers not stepping up to the plate, and it shows in the bottom line. Some groups are easier to work with than others. -Huge bureacracy. You will catch attitude from people that have no business having one. Luckily, most of them will probably get pink slips in the next few months. Canon is finding its purchase of Oce is not the bargain they thought, just as Oce did when it purchased Imagistics. There is going to be a massive cultural shift that many Oce employees will not be able to adapt to.
