Pros

I have experienced the tuition and advertising industries in different companies in the past 12 years, and so far, Mindlab is my favorite. Mindlab is a small company and this has its pros and cons, definitely. I saw it improve its policies and hiring over the years. The management listens to the employees who voice out their opinions and suggestions to enhance the system. Tutors have the flexibility to work from home and on-site. They can work from home for the day if all their classes are online. They could report late in the day if they don't have classes on what they termed 'Tutors' Week' which is twice a month. During tutors' free time in the early weekday afternoons (off peak usually because students are still in school), they have free reign to manage their time either to use this to prepare for classes, rest, have a coffee break, or socialize with other tutors who are free. There are of course peak seasons during holidays when these early afternoon slots are filled but this is balanced out with the incentive to hit a commission. The management is fair in giving compassionate leave to its employees as long as the requests are reasonable and you have documentation -- fair pre-requisites. They follow the usual MOM practices for sick and annual leaves. There are tutors that stayed in the company for more a decade or so, and this says a lot about the company as it is not common in the tutoring industry that tutors stay and build a full-time career. Although I did not work as a tutor myself, I see first-hand how the management takes care of their employees, sees through issues, and offer solutions. They are hands-on because as I mentioned, it is a small company. Like some tutors, admins like myself have stayed for years because we enjoyed the work, the company respects our boundaries (never contacts us on our off day/leave to disturb our peace and rest), and we see year on year individual and company growth (which you wouldn't see if you are jumping from one job to the other year by year). Thank you for the opportunity, Mindlab!
