Pros

Little Otter is doing something that has never been done before: providing quality mental health care on a virtual platform to children and families. The co-founders come with a WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE in both the tech and mental health industries that no other company offers. I have learned so much working here in the last year and I’ve been in the mental health field for over 10 years. It has been extremely rewarding to work with children and families who are desperate for help. By providing a virtual platform, Little Otter is able to access those families who may not have services within 100 miles of their location. The company is also extremely DEDICATED to working towards increasing access to ALL FAMILIES, not just private pay. It has done so much in just over a year and continues to build rapidly, with opportunities for growth for those who are interested. Little Otter is committed to children and families just like they are committed to their employees. It is a TEAM through and through. We have regular company-wide get-togethers, a DEI committee that provides feedback and recommendations to promote those commitments, and we are often given opportunities to speak with executive leadership regularly. It is a collaborative team where everyone is truly committed to the vision and mission of the company.

Cons

A start up is not for everyone. As a mental health provider, it has a unique quality that requires the ability to adjust and be flexible. That can be difficult for providers who are “stuck” in their ways. This company is not for someone who doesn’t like to collaborate. This company is not for someone who is uncomfortable with ambiguity. This company is not for someone who is not open to feedback or change.

Pros

One of the major advantages of being a psychotherapist with Little Otter is the exceptional flexibility and support the organization provides to its clinicians. The flexible scheduling model allows therapists to create a caseload that aligns with their personal and professional commitments, promoting strong work–life balance and reducing burnout. In addition to schedule autonomy, Little Otter offers competitive benefits that support clinicians’ overall well-being, including healthcare coverage and professional development resources. The opportunity for bonuses further enhances earning potential. Together, this combination of flexibility, benefits, and financial incentives creates a sustainable and rewarding work environment for psychotherapists.

Cons

I have not experienced any cons in a year with Little Otter.
