Stayed for the kids, left the toxicity
Pros
Interacting with members of the community, and inspiring children to expand their minds. Sparking an interest between young minds and what fascinates them. The CO people grind to uplift the museum and its staff.
Cons
Unorganized leadership, tolerance for racism/homophobia/lying/gossiping/drug use, improper sanitation in spaces for children under 3, complete lack of training for duties that require being trained, supervisors encourage unhealthy work balance, supervisor manipulation of timesheets to subtract time already worked, disregard for boundaries/personal matters, tolerance for multiple older men who are "known for preying on young female hires", punishment for discussing job duties/pay, supervisor guilt-tripping, passive aggressive work environment, lying about potential for career development AND lying about future pay raises, forcing part-time employees (with secondary employment) to work a minimum of 32 hours M-F --you cannot work less than 30 hours, multiple safety hazards, items with bodily fluids go uncleaned for days/weeks, devoid of competent planning, very little leadership preparation, boast non-profit status but act like a for-profit institution.
