Pros

The owner Randy pays Patrol supervisors well in California better than just about any company I have worked for in 16 to 17 years of security experience. never had a problem with my paycheck. my experience starting as a security officer then post commander and ending as a corporal was really good but that's because I had really great team that was earning enough awards that the account manager commented "What's going on here you and your team keep earning all the awards/recognitions". If you are a post commander here is a list of things you should do to injoy your job at GSG and get promoted. Show up every day on time, look good, smell good, and speak properly and respectfully to everyone even those you may not like/respect. When interacting with an angry/aggressive person always make a few attempts or a few minutes of speaking calmly and respectfully before you start speaking in a more stern/demanding tone. With one word or phrase, you can take a calm person and make them angry or an already angry person violent. Look I can't stress this enough as a security officer and more so if you are a post commander, supervisor, or manager is that this job is customer service! to the client their employees, customers/guest any GSG guard under you and your GSG superiors. If your doing security to bust some heads you're not going to keep any security job for long and keep it up and you will at some point find yourself facing jail time. Right a minimum of 1 full page report on a slow day and 2 to 4+ pages on a busy day. Make sure that your penmanship is nice and easy to read only put facts do not make up or exaggerate anything on your DARs. Always follow your post orders to the tea. Make sure your team sees you doing these things. Be a leader, not a boss, leaders are out in the cold wet rain getting muddy with their team and sweating in the heat right next to them and even better if you make sure they get more time than you out of the elements. make sure you tell the guards you see what a great job they are doing and wright a note to the ones that you don't see giving them recognization for their good performance as well. They follow you to the ends of the earth. If you do these things and get your team to do the same GSG will treat you well and want to promote you. This is where if you have the ability to interact with the client do it as often as you can get them to like and respect you and your team. Make sure you let them know you and your team have been performing very well for them. If your GSG supervisors or/and manager are not recognizing your team's performance then you can ask the client to make some calls to GSG letting them know that they have noticed your team's excellent performance and you can even ask them to speak with someone that is above the supervisor or manager that is not recognizing your team. Its okay for the client to do that. Only go above your supervisor or manager when your team has been performing great for a good period of time and you know they're not doing anything about it. If you get in trouble let your team know and tell them you would do it again and again if you have to. Never be a boss they get their team to do what they want through intimidation and threats if they follow you to the ends of the earth it's to push you off.

Cons

in my area they burn through account managers pretty quickly they when through 2 and were on the 3rd one when I moved out of state in Jan. 2019 only to find out that sometime in 2020 that manager was gone don't know if he was fired or quit but I really liked and respected him. It just made me feel like I didn't want to go, past patrol supervisor because I felt that I would have a job much longer, not to say I wouldn't but only after I learned everything that Randy expected an account manager to know and I became very proficient and knowledgeable of the responsibilities and duties of that position. Other than that love that company.
