Pros
Overall, it all depends on the Kindergarten that you work for. I'm very fortunate to be in a good Kindergarten with nice bosses. The salary is based on a Tarifvertrag and there are other perks like a BVG or benefits card and bonuses twice per year, plus 33 days of holiday.
Cons
The group size is very large and all the Kindergartens are moving in the direction of "offene Arbeit", which means some schools are more chaotic than others. Some of the larger Kindergartens were not built with this "open work" in mind.
