Pros

In the Netherlands DotControl is one of the most innovative agencies. DotControl is there to create growth. Growth for their clients (mostly large and international) but they focus on growth for the people within the agency too. The agency is quite large in size (now around 90 colleagues) but is feels like a boutique agency. The teamvibe is great.

Cons

High standards, The pace is quite fast and not everything is perfect yet. Education systems are there but can be better, HR is there but can be better.

Pros

Very social and friendly colleagues. Free lunch and sodas. You can get a pretty decent salary offer at the higher end of your salary scale, but only if you negotiate for it. You get one work from home day. Could be none. Small company and teams, you get to carry a lot of responsibilities.

Cons

Nice workplace with a lot of potential, but I think it's important to be honest about it's flaws too. Company wide percentage-based salary adjustments depending on last year's profit margin. This means someone who has been an amazing employee will get a X-% raise and a Y-% inflation correction. Totalling a 60€ raise before taxes for a junior developer. Or just over a 100€ if you are in the senior salary range. This could almost be considered a salary standstill with the current economy. The only financial growth path that keeps up with the current inflation rate and cost of living crisis is to promote to medior/senior/director. Or the more reliable option: move to a new employer. You hear from coworkers that a lot of people have left to find a new job after receiving such a disappointing salary raise (or less) for their hard work and effort. There is also no proper overtime compensation. Your best offer is to compensate your overtime by taking those hours off work on another day. Which is still quite an awful trade-off after being coerced into working your evening hours or even weekends for finishing a project deadline or fixing a production issue. Those out-of-office hours should be valued at a higher rate than 1-to-1. You could have been spending that time with your family and friends. There is no customer support person hired in the company for quite some time. Therefore phone calls and emails are directed to Junior developers to resolve and handle. I think this impedes the professional growth potential by taking away development time from juniors. All this while time management is already a significant struggle on the projects. Customer support hours are opt-in, but CS participation was also made a requirement to grow into a medior developer. You're coerced into doing it, under the pretense that it was your own choice. Increasingly over the years there has been a steady move away from English as the official business and company language. Less international colleagues and clients, more documentation and communications in Dutch. Not exactly the inclusive space it used to be for non Dutchies. But luckily there are enough colleagues who also don't mind the English to counter those that openly do complaint about it.

Pros

Some Nice people work here, unfortunately they are overshadowed by the management team.

Cons

Dotcontrol is the perfect place to get a burn-out. The company strategy is missing, the pressure on workers is high and so is the ego of the majority of the company’s owners. It is honestly incredible how I’ve seen nearly everyone who worked here suffer deeply - in so many manners. I recommend anyone to not believe the positive reviews of the company found online as they have all been written by the former HR manager as a cover up. Working here is intense - and I reckon that every former employee will acknowledge this.
