Cons
Not much structure for onboarding/training process
DPR Group is a small but nimble agency that offers great learning potential to gain PR & Marketing experience. Hard work is a prerequisite to continued employment (no room for slacking) but if you apply yourself, you can emerge with a well-rounded track record to take to the next level. Work-life balance is second to none while top management feedback was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.
Cons
Less a con than a fair warning: In this business, a thick skin is required to diplomatically manage prickly personalities, brush off thoughtless comments, and accommodate unreasonable requests. Not easy at times, but if you learn to strike this balance, it’s a soft skill that will take you far.
For those just getting started in PR & Marketing, DPR Group is a good place to learn the ins and out of the industry. You get to work closely with account executives on a variety of client accounts, and gain a lot of first-hand experience. The company promotes from within, so you can make your way up to a role as assistant account executive/account executive fairly quickly.
The company offers great flexibility when it comes to your schedule and ability to work remotely. Every work day is also a bit different. Whether you're writing articles, conducting research, doing media outreach, or planning social media, there's always a variety of projects to take on that will keep you challenged and engaged.
Workplace culture is also a plus. Employees not only work well together on client projects, but also keep the office environment fun.
Cons
At times, it can be challenging to learn some of the more technical aspects of clients' industries, especially if you don't come from a tech background. But with a bit of research and participation in client meetings, it's not too difficult to catch on. Senior employees are also always happy to help out with any questions you may have!
