Pros

Small, nimble company on a growth path. Bootstrapped company built without any outside money/investors that can influence company decision-making. Lots of opportunities to learn and grow professionally. Sharp, diverse, and fun coworkers to collaborate with.

Cons

Benefits could be better. If you are looking for a clock-in/clock-out job, this is probably not the place for you.

Pros

Working at Compose.ly has been a wonderful experience for me. The in-house team is supportive, fun, and so hard-working. It's a great remote work environment where I've always felt free to voice questions or concerns. Management is very involved and open to feedback. One of my favorite things about working at Compose.ly is the flexibility. I can go to the dentist, pick up my groceries mid-day, work from anywhere, etc. so long as I'm getting my work done, making up the time, and communicating with the team as needed. This was really important to me with a remote job and Compose.ly does it right. For freelancers, working with Compose.ly is a great option. The pay is reliable, the support team is always there to help, and the app is constantly being improved based on user feedback. Many of the freelance writers and editors have been with Compose.ly for years, which is impressive in a field that's always changing.

Cons

On the in-house side, it's a busy job. There's always something to be working on, but managers are supportive and helpful if you're ever feeling overwhelmed. As with any startup-type environment, things change quickly so you need to be flexible and adapt as needed, especially as the company continues to grow pretty quickly. For freelancers, sometimes there's a lot of available work and sometimes it's a little slower. Of course, this is true of most freelance work, but you should be careful of relying solely on Compose.ly.
