Pros

Pays the bills and you can keep some leftover pastries if you close.

Cons

You clean the kitchen for the bakers on top of the DAILY (regardless of day) cleaning duties and then WEEKLY (depends on day of the week) cleaning duties on top of MONTHLY (Once a month) cleaning duties. All this work on top of serving drinks, prepping & making sandwiches, serving the sandwiches, serving pastries, cleaning the pastry display throughout the day/end of day & the dessert fridge, taking orders, and finally cleaning at the end of the shift the barista station (sweep, mopping, cleaning glass, espresso machine, refilling fridge, cleaning fridge) then the dining room (sweep, mopping, cleaning tables, walls, coffee station, brining in tables, the dishes for the bakers, the bathroom, and the dining room. THE biggest problem with all this work is that it's created to prevent you from being able to take LUNCHES and BREAKS. Bakers also (who work 8 hours) don't get lunches or breaks. No one gets lunches or breaks unless you try to take a break to eat. You are encouraged to snack on something between tasks but never to clock out for 30 minute lunch. People take 10 minute breaks sometimes and try to scarf down some food. Overworked, underpaid, the cherry on top is the owners attitude. She gets angry when we try to take breaks and eat, constantly reminding us to get back to work and do our chores list. She gets passive aggressive and yells and throws kitchen utensils, and slams doors, then randomly just acts nice again as if she didn't just yell at everyone . Everyone gets tense and uncomfortable when this happens. At the beginning of the shift we all ask "how's it been?" because we want to know if Vivian is in a bad mood again. Everyone is too scared to ask for breaks or lunches because her mood is unstable and she is passive aggressive. Don't work here!

Pros

great neighborhood to work in, a real sense of community between staff and customers, flexible schedule, free lunch, tips.

Cons

The pay is not great. Usually you will be trained by a fellow employee who is slammed and doing their best to work and show you things at the same time.
