About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Support Worker / Healthcare Assistant (Level) to provide both hands-on client care and day-to-day support leadership within the community team.
In this role, you will deliver high-quality in-home care while also supporting junior support workers, ensuring care plans are followed, and maintaining strong service standards.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide and oversee care including:
- Personal care (showering, dressing, toileting)
- Meal preparation and feeding support
- Household support (cleaning, laundry, tidying)
- Medication reminders (non-clinical prompting only)
- Mobility assistance (transfers, walking support, safe handling)
- Community access (shopping, appointments, social activities)
- Companionship and emotional support
Senior-Level Duties Also Include:
- Supporting and mentoring junior support workers in the field
- Assisting with client care plan implementation
- Ensuring accurate reporting and documentation
- Promoting safe work practices and quality standards
- Communicating changes in client needs to coordinators or clinical staff
Requirements
- Previous experience in aged care, disability support, or healthcare assistance (preferred)
- Full or restricted driver’s licence
- Reliable vehicle for community visits (may be required)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Physically fit for caregiving tasks
- Ability to pass police vetting / background check
- First aid or healthcare training (advantageous but not essential)
- NZQA Health & Wellbeing qualifications (Level 2–3 or higher preferred but not required)
