Food Science at AUT
Food Science is a key discipline within our multidisciplinary School of Science, offering opportunities to contribute to innovative teaching and impactful research. Students can pursue advanced study through programmes such as the Master of Science (Food Science), working alongside internationally recognised, research-active staff. The discipline is further strengthened by the Centre of Future Foods and Health, which drives research and innovation. Emphasis is placed on practical skills, small class sizes, and preparing graduates to meet the evolving needs of the science workforce.
The School of Science brings together expertise across environmental and marine science, biological and biomedical sciences, medical diagnostics, psychology and neuroscience, chemistry, and food science. We have a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) opportunity for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to make a significant impact and develop their career in teaching, research and service. We are open to expertise across areas relevant to our Food Science Discipline, and are particularly interested in applicants who can contribute to our teaching and research in:
We embrace practice-led, research-informed approaches to teaching. Your contributions to programme and course development will support our continuous-improvement focus. You will teach across programmes as assigned by the Head of Department and be comfortable using digital resources to enhance learning. You will publish actively in your specialised fields. It is also expected that over time the successful candidate will seek and attract external research funding, engage with government, business, professional bodies and the community, and contribute to School/Faculty activities.
