MAJHA DOABA PRIVATE LIMITED, known for offering a wide and delicious variety of food, is seeking a reliable Cook to join its team in Christchurch, Canterbury. The successful candidate will be attentive, organised, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established recipes and food preparation procedures.
• Develop and create new menu items, including testing recipes, refining presentation, and contributing innovative ideas to enhance customer appeal and support business growth.
• Plan daily food production requirements and ensure adequate quantities of food products are available to meet customer demand.
• Select, measure, and organise ingredients required for daily food preparation and cooking activities.
• Schedule and manage food preparation processes to ensure customer orders are completed efficiently, especially during busy service periods.
• Use and oversee kitchen equipment, including grills, fryers, ovens, and food warming units, ensuring safe and effective operation.
• Contribute to the creation of new dishes, recipes, and preparation techniques to improve menu offerings and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Ensure meals are portioned, garnished, and presented consistently in line with company quality and presentation standards.
• Store ingredients and prepared food items appropriately, monitor stock usage, and report low inventory levels when required.
• Modify menu items where appropriate to accommodate customer dietary needs, allergies, or special requests.
• Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
• Provide guidance and on-the-job training to new kitchen staff on food preparation methods and hygiene practices as required.
• Keep kitchen areas, equipment, and workstations clean, tidy, and sanitised in accordance with food safety standards.

Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be paid between $28 to $33 per hour

Other requirements for the role:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience or at least a relevant level 4 qualifications.
• Flexible availability to work weekends and evening shifts as required.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and maintain positive working relationships.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently in a busy and fast-paced work environment.
