We have a rare opportunity to work as an Occupational Therapist and join our passionate Rotorua- Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (iCAMHS). The role is based in Rotorua in the Childrens Health Hub and includes support, as needed, to the Southern Lakes iCAMHS team, based in Taupo.

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary team who has an interest in Mental Health. Post graduate experience in mental health (2 years) would be an asset however, for the right candidate, this could be a great position for a new graduate with opportunities to develop skills in occupational therapy assessment, individual work and group facilitation, and special interests such as sensory integration.

About the Role

• Part time (up to 28 hours per week), negotiable with possible full time options
• Working business hours (Mon Fri 8am to 4:30pm)
• To facilitate the delivery of effective clinical services ensuring quality care and a safe recovery journey across the care continuum.
• To provide community mental health care based on current best practice and collaborative working within the interdisciplinary team.
• Ensure all inter-disciplinary referrals within the team will be performed with consent from tangata whaiora and their whānau (where applicable).
• Work collaboratively with complementary internal and external partner organisations.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our team of mental health clinicians work closely together as a multi-disciplinary team to provide mental health assessments and treatment to Tamariki (children), taiohi (young people) and whanau (extended family). The Rotorua team works closely aligned to other child & adolescent health services at Te Aka Mauri, the Childrens Health Hub, located in the Rotorua Public Library building.

About you

• Registration, or be eligible for registration, with a OTBNZ, hold a current full clean NZ drivers licence, and meet requirements for the childrens worker safety checks.
• An ability to connect and build trusting relationships with a wide range of people from the community. It is preferred that the successful candidate has strong assessment and therapeutic intervention skills.
• Ability to work efficiently both independently and with other clinicians in our skilled multi-disciplinary team.
• Competency with te Ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
• Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
