Position Overview
Zhonghe Construction Limited is seeking an experienced and organised Construction Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and manage residential construction and renovation projects across Auckland.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing project programmes, site execution, subcontractor coordination, procurement, quality control, health and safety compliance, and project handover. This role requires strong construction knowledge, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple project interfaces from pre-construction preparation through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, direct, control, and coordinate residential construction and renovation projects from start to finish.
- Review project scope, drawings, specifications, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Develop project programmes, construction schedules, procurement plans, and site work plans.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, site workers, consultants, clients, and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress, site activities, labour allocation, material delivery, and construction milestones.
- Ensure construction works are carried out in accordance with project requirements, quality standards, building regulations, and company procedures.
- Manage site meetings, progress updates, communication records, project documentation, and reporting.
- Identify project risks, delays, design issues, supply problems, and site constraints, and implement practical solutions.
- Control project costs, review variations, support budget tracking, and assist with contract administration.
- Oversee quality inspections, defect management, completion checks, and final handover processes.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and promote safe working practices on site.
- Support continuous improvement of project delivery, site coordination, and construction management procedures.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in construction management, civil engineering, building, project management, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in construction project management, site management, residential building, renovation, or construction coordination.
- Strong understanding of residential construction processes, site operations, subcontractor coordination, and project delivery.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documents.
- Good knowledge of construction planning, procurement coordination, quality control, cost control, and handover procedures.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate different trades, and work under project deadlines.
- Familiarity with New Zealand building practices, health and safety requirements, and construction site standards is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project scheduling tools, and construction management systems would be an advantage.
- Mandarin communication skills may be advantageous due to client, supplier, or subcontractor communication needs.
