Our Corporate Banking team serves some of the highest growth and internationally minded companies in the New Zealand marketplace. Corporate Banking supports companies with turnover of c$100m through to c$3bn, with a current client base that includes listed and privately held companies. The team has delivered outstanding results and is focused on providing consistently high levels of support to existing and new to HSBC clients, to continue this strong trajectory.
As a Senior Associate, you will partner with Relationship Managers to support clients achieve their ambitions through the growth and delivery of profitable solutions and products. In doing so, you will work closely with relationship coverage, product partners, and risk stewards and will support relationship coverage in leading, originating, structuring, executing and delivering tailored solutions across a broad range of products, services and markets. You will work with high-quality corporate clients, developing a diversified portfolio, while being supported by an experienced high growth team with opportunities for future growth over time with the global HSBC network.
Your main responsibilities will include assisting the Relationship Managers to:

Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients. Identify client needs, scope, cross-sell and coordinate origination across the product suite and geographies. Maintain dialogue with allocated clients, awareness of client needs and issues within the broader relationship.

Develop and maintain an understanding of our clients’ industries and associated markets, including both local and global dynamics, in order to inform strategic and operational dialogue with clients and to enhance problem solving.

Analyse financial statements and company cashflows to identify and mitigate risk and identify opportunities.

Take an innovative approach to solutions and origination activities, acting as a pitch-book lead across the product set, mobilising stakeholders and SMEs (product, senior management) and contributing to meetings and stakeholder discussions.

Ensure strong adherence to credit policies (including ongoing monitoring of clients), financial crime compliance, and regulatory compliance.

Coordinate with the team’s dedicated Relationship Service Manager to ensure administrative tasks are completed in line with client requirements and internal reporting needs.

Coordinate with the team’s Business Credit Office Manager / Analyst to ensure credit and legal documentation related tasks are completed in line with requirements.

Work with the Relationship Manager to originate revenue opportunities, initiate and finalise client plans, prepare pricing submissions and present to the relevant internal stakeholders, complete and maintain deal pipeline, call reports, and client service team communications.

Support mitigation of KYC risk in addition to distribution of CDD materials across the network.

Maintain a strong focus on risk management, collaborative culture, sound governance & controls, escalate and speak up when required.

Continue to drive internal regional and global connectivity.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Proven ability to successfully work with corporate customers and their varying banking requirements.

Experience in a corporate / institutional finance setting with a fundamental understanding of key corporate banking products including bilateral and syndicated loans, trade finance, transactional banking and treasury solutions.

Demonstrated ability to build strong and lasting relationships with internal and external parties.
-
Strong familiarity with APLMA loan documentation.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with people at all levels including clients, peers, product specialists, industry specialists and credit risk personnel.

High levels of self-motivation, commitment and a desire to succeed.

Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

A natural focus on providing superior customer service with a genuine desire to consistently meet and exceed customer expectations

A degree in Finance, Business, Accountancy, Law or related disciplines - related post graduate qualifications such as Master of Finance, CFA, CPA, or similar will be highly regarded.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold New Zealand Citizenship/PR or Australian Citizenship, or who can show they currently have unrestricted work rights in New Zealand without limitations.
