Civil Materials Laboratory Cadet or Technician – Nelson Laboratory
Our laboratories play a vital role in supporting Aotearoa’s infrastructure by testing a wide range of civil engineering materials – including aggregates, soils, concrete, and bitumen. This work helps ensure quality, safety, and performance for projects across the manufacturing and construction sectors.
We’re looking for a motivated Cadet or Junior Technician to join our Nelson Laboratory team. This is an entry-level opportunity, and no previous laboratory experience is required – we’ll provide full training. We’re seeking someone who is physically capable, enjoys hands-on work, and has an interest in pursuing a career as a Civil Materials Laboratory Technician. You’ll also be comfortable with basic data entry and flexible to work occasional overtime when needed.
In this role, you’ll contribute to a variety of projects across both laboratory and field environments, supporting work that helps shape the future of our communities.
About you:
Experience in labour or trades-based roles (e.g. construction, roading, warehousing, farming) is advantageous
Strong physical fitness and ability to safely handle heavy materials and equipment
Basic computer skills and confidence following digital instructions
A team player with good communication skills
Willingness to travel and work overtime when required
Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence
