Cloud Engineer

Overview Design, build, and operate reliable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure and platform services. Support deployments, automation, observability, and platform improvements that enable product teams to deliver software safely and quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud architectures (IaaS/PaaS) on AWS, GCP, or Azure with focus on scalability, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi) to provision and manage cloud resources.
• Implement and operate CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and deployment strategies (Blue/Green, Canary, Rolling).
• Manage container platforms and orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS/GKE/AKS, Docker); design patterns for multi-cluster and multi-tenant deployments.
• Configure and maintain networking, load balancers, VPCs, VPNs, DNS, and security groups.
• Implement identity, access management, and secrets management solutions (IAM, SSO, Vault).
• Define and enforce cloud security best practices: encryption, key management, vulnerability scanning, and compliance controls.
• Build observability: logging, metrics, tracing (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, OpenTelemetry) and implement alerting and SLOs/SLIs.
• Manage backups, disaster recovery, and high-availability patterns; run and improve on-call rotations and incident response.
• Optimize cloud costs (rightsizing, reserved instances/savings plans, autoscaling, cost monitoring).
• Collaborate with developers to provide self-service platform tooling, developer experience improvements, and runbooks.
• Contribute to capacity planning, architecture reviews, and technical documentation.
• Mentor peers and help evangelize best practices across teams.

Required qualifications

• 3–5+ years experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) in production.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi).
• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and container ecosystems; experience operating clusters in production.
• Solid networking fundamentals and cloud networking experience (VPC, subnets, routing, NAT, load balancing).
• Experience with CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and deployment automation.
• Familiarity with observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/Opensearch, Datadog) and defining SLOs/SLIs.
• Hands-on experience with security controls, IAM, and secrets management solutions.
• Experience with scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Go, or similar).
• Strong troubleshooting, incident-response, and systems debugging skills.
• Good communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Certifications (AWS Certified, Google Professional Cloud Engineer, Kubernetes Certified).
• Experience with service meshes (Istio, Linkerd) and API gateways.
• Background in platform engineering, developer productivity tooling, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Familiarity with serverless architectures (Lambda, Cloud Functions) and event-driven systems.
• Experience with cost optimization tooling and governance (FinOps practices).
• Experience designing multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud architectures.

Pay: $5,643.96 – $7,582.43 per month

Work Location: In person
