Help keep Aotearoa New Zealand powered by supporting the performance, reliability and safety of our generation assets. We have a great opportunity to join our site-based Hydro team, where you’ll join a highly motivated team that maintains, operates, manages and continuously improves our renewable hydro generation assets.

We are looking for a Site Electrical Engineer to provide technical electrical engineering support to our site maintenance and operational teams. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys solving practical engineering challenges, working closely with others and helping improve the performance and reliability of critical assets.

This role is site-based and can accommodate people from Taupo and Rotorua regions.

Mō te tūranga | About the role:

As Site Engineer – Electrical, you’ll provide hands-on technical engineering support across Mercury’s generation assets and wider business. You’ll deliver and manage site-based engineering projects, monitor asset condition, support return-to-service quality processes, and identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and ways of working.

Tāu e mahi ai | What you'll be doing:

• Provide electrical engineering support to site maintenance, operational and project teams
• Monitor and analyse asset condition, performance, risk and life expectancy
• Troubleshoot equipment performance issues and help eliminate chronic defects
• Identify, assess and manage equipment integrity threats and remedial works
• Manage site-based projects to improve equipment performance
• Support return-to-service QA/QC for complex work
• Execute and supervise plant inspections, engineering assessments and failure assessments
• Ensure Mercury’s Management of Change process is followed

Tā mātou e kimi nei | We are looking for:

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Strong and relevant engineering experience
• Experience in electricity generation is an advantage
• Ability to break down complex problems into component parts and assemble logical, pragmatic solutions
