My kid just started kinder and OMG. The weekly homework, weekly testing, weekly Spanish homework on top of all of the extracurricular programs I didn’t sign up for (but maybe should have? Is she going to be behind because she’s not doing the early reading program, art program, Spanish program, homework help -ahh!) The straw that broke my back was seeing an email this morning sent yesterday morning to please review a math packet because there is an assessment today. Oh well…

That seems…excessive for kinder?
Whoa! Did the district/teacher explain why they do all this for kinder? We have state-mandated assessments throughout the year but also a no homework policy to not overwhelm the little ones. And burning out the parents doesn’t help anyone either!
No homework in our kindergarten…and no extracurriculars either. Where is this? This seems like a recipe for burnout….
