Is text based interviews a thing or is it a scam?
Sometimes I beat myself up about not having a job yet. I start wondering if it’s all my fault. Maybe I’m not applying enough. Maybe I’m not networking enough. Maybe I’m not trying hard enough. Some days I can separate my worth from my situation. Other days not so much. Has anyone else ever struggled with blaming themselves when things aren’t working out?
How many times have you rewritten your résumé this year? Has it actually helped? I've recently started having ChatGPT update my resume with every posting based on the job description I'm applying for and I'm hoping that will help get through the ATS if companies are using it. We'll see.
Best ways to fight ageism? I’m currently debating if I should remove my graduation years from my resume because I’m starting to suspect I’m facing some subtle ageism. I have twenty years of incredible experience, but I’m worried that seeing a graduation date from the early 2000s makes recruiters think I’m too expensive or stuck in my ways before they even look at my achievements.

People talk about résumés and interviews a lot, but not always the emotional side. What’s been the hardest emotional part of unemployment for you personally? For me, it's knowing that in just 4 or 5 more months (I've been unemployed for about 10 months now), I will be completely out of savings that I have built over 10 years if I don't get a job now. Any job! It's stressful!
That sounds super sketchy. I don't know how you can get a job without speaking with the person. Do you have communications with them in any other way other than text? Did they send any email from a company domain? Is the number you are communicating with listed as a company number? Is the person you are communicating with visible on LinkedIn? Can you see that they are authorized as being part of the company? Just some of my thoughts regarding this.
I never respond to text messages from anyone claiming to be from a recruiting firm. If you believe it is a legitimate company you should call the company directly and ask if they are hiring.
