LET'S FRAME THIS FOR YOU: As National Health and Safety Manager you'll be ultimately responsible for championing a positive and engaging safety culture across our business. Leading a team of x3 dedicated H&S advisors you'll play a vital role in our success; engaging with the workforce and ultimately driving Carters level of safety awareness and performance.
The straetgy is set, so we're looking for our next Leader who will also still be very much hands on in an advisor role; actively participate in risk management including pro-actively visiting sites, conducting assessments, recommending capital improvements, leading the rehabilitation process and providing advice on solutions for hazard and risk controls. You'll ensure compliance with legislative and company standards, manage the ACC partnership programme and other external service provider relationships.
You'll be involved with regular audits, investigations and reviews - and most importantly - be known as the safety Leader in our business, providing coaching to our managers/staff and building safety leadership capabilities. There is also a reporting element to the role therefore you'll enjoy hands-on operational and analytical work.
The position is based in our National Support Office in East Tamaki, Auckland, with a small amount of domestic travel throughout the year.

We're looking for someone with a high level of enthusiasm and initiative and a genuine interest in the health and wellbeing of people. The foundations to this role will see you demonstrating the below skill set:
Experience in a health and safety Management role, coupled with a proven track record using your influencing skills to drive change In-depth knowledge of New Zealand Health and Safety legislation and current practices. An applicable tertiary qualification would be a distinct advantage to your application Demonstrate an ability to challenge the status quo for optimal business outcomes; taking ownership for results and working across the business to influence change Enhance a safety minded culture, actively gaining buy-in and building positive relationships across our Management team and onsite staff Be commercially astute and practical in your approach, demonstrating strong communication skills with ability to clearly articulate your strategic thinking
