Tauranga City Council (TCC) has a vision to be leader in local government health and safety management and we have a Health & Safety and Wellbeing team that ensures we have good health and safety management practices.
We are seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to join this team to provide operational and pragmatic, customer-focused advice and general support across the wider Council and externally.
As an Advisor and influencer you will be a key member of this team working alongside a highly experienced group of people who will guide and support you along the way to drive, influence and imbed organisational change. Your 'outside the box' view and 'fresh thinking' approach will be well received and valued; As will your strong customer focus and effective communication skills.
The type of person we are needing for this role thrives in a busy working environment and is able to tailor their approach to suit the variety of internal and external customers we deal with. You will be someone with practical business experience, core health and safety knowledge and formal qualifications or may have worked at a Coordination level or have recently graduated. We will offer further professional development to assist with and maintain professional accreditations.

Ideally, you will also have the following background and experience:
Tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety, or a related field, at NZQA Level 5 or higher.
Competency in the use of Microsoft software programmes (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Proven experience in a relevant role or sector
Someone who enjoys advising and educating to influence better outcomes
Strong organising and prioritising skills
