We are currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer to join our client’s diverse business on a permanent basis.
Reporting to the Health, Safety and Environment Manager and working closely with the BOP Regional Manager, you’ll be responsible for implementing H & S strategies, programmes and policies and to provide technical support, confined spaces management and safety watch services to clients.
Key Responsibilities include: > Provide SME and advice to Supervisors, and Team Leaders to assist with implementing Health and Safety policies and procedures, as well as legislative, regulatory and licensing requirements > Carryout confined spaces safety watch and associated tasks > Develop, review and maintain Health and Safety policies, procedures and emergency response plans > Conduct and co-ordinate on-site inspections and internal audits to ensure ACC accreditation requirements are met > Compile health and safety reports to analyse data to determine areas of improvement > Review analysis of accident and injury data, maintain and review risk registers, develop and promote Health and Environmental awareness across the organisation > Provide training to staff on occupational safety issues, inductions and emergency response and attend toolbox meetings > Undertake Health and Safety projects as required and provide onsite support for client-based projects
The successful candidate will have: > A relevant NZQA Level 4 qualification or above in OSH > Minimum of 2 years Health and Safety experience > Knowledge of H&S and ACC legislation > Investigation experience > Proficient MS Office skills including Outlook, Word, Internet and databases > Strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral > Ability to multi task and cope with conflicting priorities and deadlines > Ability to engage with people across different cultures
