As the year comes to a close, we’d like to thank our inaugural Impact Team for their outstanding leadership and service. Launched in early 2025, the Impact Team helps extend our mission into the communities we serve through volunteer initiatives throughout the year. Some notable achievements include assistance with our annual scholarship program that awarded more than $50,000 to students, executed a service event at our annual summit (assembling 800+ care kits for local nonprofits), and supported community fridges, food banks, financial education programs, and strengthened partnerships across our footprint. Celebrating the wins! In the fast pace of everyday tasks, it’s easy to overlook the milestones we achieve. But every step forward, no matter how small, deserves recognition — and this one is particularly special to celebrate throughout the year. As mentioned previously, Lighthouse Credit Union honors one outstanding team member with the Theresa Palumbo Service Award. This prestigious award recognizes someone who truly embodies and exemplifies our vision, mission, and values, both within the organization and in the community. It’s named in honor of Theresa Palumbo, a dedicated board member since 1977, to celebrate her lifelong commitment to both Lighthouse Credit Union and the community. Recently, Denis St Pierre, the latest recipient of the Theresa Palumbo Service Award, had the opportunity to spend time with Theresa. They discussed their shared passion for volunteering and exchanged stories about offering guidance, support, and a listening ear to their colleagues. Beyond his role in the workplace, Denis exemplifies the true spirit of community service, consistently going above and beyond to help others. Denis’s kindness and dedication are a shining example of the values we strive for at Lighthouse, and we’re incredibly fortunate to have him as part of our team. The impact he has on those around him is felt deeply, and it’s clear that his influence reaches far beyond just his professional contributions. Lighthouse Credit Union's scholarship program applications are now open! Applications are due by March 14, 2025. "With the help of Lighthouse Credit Union Foundation's Nourish Scholarship, I am able to pursue a passion filled education without the stress of financial strain" said Mykala McConaghy, a scholarship recipient attending the University of New Hampshire. This year, we’re proud to introduce the Lighthouse Community Beacon Scholarship, awarding $10,000 to a student-member who is passionate about addressing critical issues like affordable housing, food insecurity, or education within our communities. Funded by a voluntary employee deduction program, this new scholarship is a reflection of the Foundation's ongoing mission to enriching and nourishing the lives of others - and effort that is fully embraced by our team. As we close out 2024, we’d like to thank our members, community partners and team for another year of making positive impact. Thanks to their generous support, the Lighthouse Credit Union Foundation has provided over $500,000 to nearly 200 nonprofit organizations since 2023! This milestone is a testament to the incredible impact we're making together in addressing housing challenges, food insecurity, and access to education. Today is Giving Tuesday, an initiative that encourages people and organizations around the world to make a positive impact.
