      Neuro ICU review

      Pros

+unit management listens to you and cares about your development as a professional as well as a person +upper-level management is usually pretty visible...they do rounds at least weekly and the former president (just retired) would come in every holiday to thank staff for being there +excellent teamwork +good opportunities for learning--access to online resources, classes, required classes for ICU training that is actually really helpful +good rapport with residents and mid-level providers +great night shift and weekend differential

      Cons

-parking...unless you've worked there for a while you'll be taking a bus a few miles. I've gotten ticketed multiple times trying to park in the parking deck for a 1 hr meeting. -no additional pay for precepting -short on nursing assistants a lot as of late

      Horrible

      Pros

Frontline staff are good people to work with along with support staff.

      Cons

Leadership from Wesley Burks, Ernie Bovie down to department directors and Managers offer little to no support for Frontline Workers. During Pandemic they have sat at home dictating what frontline workers do at work and during personal time. They have taken away vacation time because of the purposeful staff shortage They have put hiring freezes on compromising patients and staff safety. They will pull at your heartstrings by saying things about caring for the patients in reality they only care about the bottom dollar .Most recent issue is Vaccine Mandates. If you do not comply with getting vaccine you are FIRED! I was once considered to be a healthcare hero but now all healthcare workers are disposable. My advice is to stay away from working at UNC Health system. If you believe in god you definitely will be unhappy here because they believe and force you to believe that there are more than two genders, and that there is systemic racism. If you know god you know he only made one Race and thats the human race. He teaches all humans are to be loved and Charished.

      Pros

Accrual time is gained pretty quickly and great benefits. The work environment is also stress free. Management is very laxed.

      Cons

There is no sick time for new employees. The communication across departments and teams could also be a little better.

      Pros

As an employee of the State of NC, this job provided excellent benefits, including a generous retirement plan.

      Cons

Over time, UNC Health has transitioned to a new structure. New employees are hired through one of their affiliate organizations and no longer qualify for State Employee benefits.

Forces employees to have experimental vaccines

      Pros

      None I can think of

      Cons

Forces mandatory vaccines or you will be fired, if you exempt for religious reasons they deny you. The HR is slow and lazy, unless it’s a race issue they don’t care. Only cares about money not their employees. Low pay low bonuses and don’t think about getting sick you will have an occurrence and face disciplinary action

      Pros

Matching 403b 7am-3:30 pm work schedule

      Cons

      * Weekend rotations . * Low Pay. * No career advancement opportunities. * Workforce is highly demotivated due to perceived racial and cultural biases within the hiring and promoting processes and limited professional growth if you don't fit into cliques. The CEO appears to mean well in righting the ship in the correct direction to address this but I think he is sailing into high waves due to the entrenched problems within the work culture. There are too many incentives for people to keep to business as usual.
