So first of all the job is in face to face sales for directTV at walmart, although the contract and location may change in the future. And while most of the people working there try their best not to scam the customers in Walmart I personally witnessed a couple of complete lies made to either close out a sale or calm customers on the line which then just makes them call back madder a month later.
Pay is basically pure commission but you are guaranteed 'minimum wage'/ This, however, assumes you are working only 8 hrs a day while you will really be working 10+. Pay is pretty simple with ~130 being given for each sale you make. However you are only paid for what gets installed and only about 80% of people will install so you can't just say "I got 2 sales today and made 260$". In the interview they talk about how much people make and how you should be able to make 6 sales a week, however if you do all the math you will see that this only comes out to about 9/hr and that is before you count any of the gas money you have to spend while driving an hour to some walmart in ft worth. Overall there was not a week that I made more then 6$/hr after I included gas.
I should also add that our best seller, mike, never made more then 12$/hr while I was there (Jeff writes down how much everyone made the week prior in an effor to show how large paychecks are without accounting for time put in) assuming he was working 10 hrs a day, before taking into account gas. Mike however is one of the people who I would be is putting in 14+ hours a day and would often get 2-4 more sales then anyone else.
You will be required to do a lot of driving, they do try and accommodate this by car pooling but that also means that you will be required to drive someone back to the office even if it is out of the way from your house.
You will be required to give your phone number to customers who can then spam your phone after they told you something wrong and only realized they could not break contract after DTV installed.
There are weekly out of work group meetings, some of these will be fun, however a few are so bad and cringe worthy they feel like your living in a sitcom. Everyone also just wants to talk about work during this.
You will be working around 10+ hours a day and far too much of this will be in the office where you cannot make money. You also will have to track and call customers in your off time as there is no time allowed during the normal work day to handle this without having to sit in the front of the walmart. No work/life balance.
There also are no benefits what so ever nor are you insured while driving or compensated in anyway for the wear put on your car. What little benefit of money that is possible to gain though this job is greatly reduced by this.
Overall if you want any type of personal life (a.k.a. are weak according to other people) this is not the job for you.
