Pros

Working at Reading Plus is like being part of a big professional family. I work with an exceptional and extremely bright group of people who both challenge and support me on a regular basis. Perks are: Work/life balance is great, the office is dog-friendly, casual dress code, free coffee, everyone is collaborative and genuinely kind, regular fun office events, professional development is heavily supported, and the office is really beautiful (a converted mill). Many of us have been at the company for over 5 years and quite a few over 10. We've been growing nonstop since I started here many years ago.

Cons

Lots of growth in the last few years which has brought a lot of opportunity but can be tough at times when roles and responsibilities are in transition and not always clearly defined.

Pros

- Good product - Needed to enter 5 words.

Cons

- Poor leadership and management: Leadership has absolutely no idea what they are doing and don't take kindly to any feedback from employees. They also would rather let a problem grow versus using the expertise and strengths of current staff. I've seen several employees get fired after expressing concerns. - In the few months I was there before getting laid off, I witnessed heavy employee turnover every month. - Myself and members of my team were laid off during a group zoom call, which is probably the most unprofessional situation I've encountered from an employer - The current CEO is toxic and unqualified, and has failed to set direction or get the company aligned on goals and initiatives. - If felt like they were playing house, like oh we need an SDR team but we have no direction or idea how they will work with the greater organization or sales team.

Reading Plus Response

Thank you for sharing this critical feedback with us. Reading Plus had launched a very aggressive sales strategy for 2020, and we had very intentionally doubled the size of our Sales Team in the months leading up to March 2020 when COVID-19 drastically changed the EdTech industry. Unfortunately the company did have to rebalance the staffing levels of the Sales team. Delivering this type of news is never easy. We were very transparent in our communication with those impacted employees and are sorry to hear that you felt mistreated in some way. Our CEO truly cares about our team members, and secured severance and extended benefits to help ease that transition away from the company. The company is in a much better position for success as we all emerge from the pandemic. We have clearly articulated our Company Goals and Initiatives with every team member, and implemented quarterly employee performance check-ins to help keep everyone informed and aligned on our direction. We wish you the best of luck in your next opportunity. ~ Reading Plus

Pros

Benefits are good, pay is competitive.

Cons

They claim to be flexible but they are not. The marketing team is very limiting and won’t welcome new ideas at all. There’s no career growth in there and some of the marketing team members are childish. Marketing management is very restrictive and the deliverables are INSANE. You’ll end up not sleeping from all the overtime you’ll put in. Obviously, they won’t recognize your efforts at all as it is absolutely expected. Tension amongst team members and gossip. Just a really toxic environment for a professional used to work in a healthy team environment!
