Disparate group of businesses with little commonality or alignment but a shared group management structure. Below average pay, urgent need for more investment although previous business performance, debt, and dwindling technical capability may make this very difficult. In the short term they are savagely cutting at opex rather than addressing root causes to try and reach break even point. CEO comes across well in person but is over burdened by the shortcomings of the rest of the exec, many of whom are utterly incompetent and/or invisible.
Processes, strategy and planning are not communicated or perhaps non-existent. Cultural immaturity, bullying managers and a poisoned atmosphere can make this a deeply unhappy, unfair and unrewarding place to work. The inability of leadership to communicate with or value its team has led to so many key people departing across the business, the churn is constant and very few credible/experienced staff remain.
Run on military bluster, civil service pomposity, and certain people's 'reckons' instead of evidence and strategy - no substitutes for caring, imaginative, communicative leaders.
