Thank you for sharing your feedback on your time at KitchenMate. We really appreciate your positive feedback on the product we’ve built, the heart of our employees, and our work ethic.
We do want to respond to some of the negative feedback you provided to shed more light on the matter to provide a full picture for those reading this review and considering a career at KitchenMate.
As a food business inside offices, the last 3 years during COVID have been incredibly challenging. The co-founders worked hard to shield employees from the negative effects of these consequences, but unfortunately, we could not prioritize every ask from every employee. We also didn’t over-communicate the whys. We recognize this and are working on improving this.
The co-founders are friends and do not have any personal issues with each other. We are aligned on strategies but may not always agree with everything. We think that is a healthy dynamic of diverse thoughts from different perspectives, which usually leads to the most inclusive and sustainable solutions. We do, however recognize that leadership disagreements, if heard by employees, can be stressful and be interpreted as personal issues, and we’re actively working to improve our communication style.
Regarding the claim that 7 employees out of 15 have chosen to leave in the past 2.5 years. This is not entirely accurate. We pulled a report from our HR system, and 7 people ended their employment in the past 2.5 years. Of those, 4 found new jobs after working at KitchenMate for 2 years, 2 were laid off, and 1 went on maternity leave and has since returned.
Regarding the claim that only 2 or 3 females remain. This is not true. Today, 6 out of 18 staff are female. We have never made any hiring/firing decisions based on one’s gender. It is purely coincidental that we lost some female employees. We feel bad about your sentiment around gender inequalities, and we will be extra diligent about how others could interpret such coincidences in the future.
Thanks again for taking the time to write this feedback. We learned from it and are committed to improving our culture to create a more inclusive, diverse, and vibrant workplace.
