I have been working at J D Wetherspoon part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Monthly bonus, higher rate of pay after training, 50% off food on shift, 20% off when your not working. Shares in the company after 2 years.

    Cons

Can sometimes overwork yourself, having a sick day is hard work to get, full time work gives you no free time. Late night shifts.

    Advice to Management

Nothing really, just try to be more efficient with what time you have, and be relatively quick with paperwork.

I have been working at J D Wetherspoon full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The bonus scheme, pay and 37.5 hour week is fantastic it helps with your day to day life due to varied shift patterns

    Cons

Late nights and early mornings can be difficult. Waking up at 3:45 am for an open and closing the next day which means not getting out until 2:30 am can be difficult. Managers are expected the world of and aren’t treated as well and associates

    Advice to Management

    Support shift managers up more

I have been working at J D Wetherspoon full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great salary 40 hour working week 5% of your salary in free shares each year Flexible (to an extent) Company will put you through university Free food & a drink whilst on shift 20% discount when off-duty

    Cons

Literally takes blood, sweat & tears from you Often not permitted enough staff, causing extreme stress and pressure Not permitted to employ door staff which can make you feel unsafe at times Too much focus on money and cutting costs, little time for anything other than running the operation e.g. training, people development Lack of progression opportunities when you reach Pub Manager level

    Advice to Management

Lack of hours available can have damaging affects on staff's mental health.
