      Pros

      Easy to get by and flexible shifts You get to share a meal with the people you support Extra pay with sleepover hours Got to work with cool colleagues (most of them)

      Too much enforcement of certain activities for the people we support to engage in due to health and safety issues Complaints feel unheard by manager(s) Can be emotionally draining at times Can get boring depending on the facility you work in

      Pros

      The people I look after are verbal and non verbal. Each of them have a unique way of communicating. When you are with them daily. You absorb and automatically know what they want and don't want. It's like your family member interacting with you. I came from a family of eight children. It has grown over time with my daughter and wife, our parents, brothers and sisters, siblings spouses, and their own children. A lot of interaction and unique way on dealing with each wonderful personalities.

      Cons

      Challenges are part of our daily life. The most are ones I cannot control. When they are in pain or are sick, are situations we can still help them the best we can. But sometimes, we can only hold their hand to let them know, we are there for them. They are not alone.

      You feel pressured when you don't work extra hours, the managers don't care about the staff's health and well-being, and they will keep asking you to work overtime. The communication is very poor in the team
