Pros

Great benefit plan. Medical, Dental & Vision coverage for all employees and family, 100% paid by Hanjin. Company lunch provided on last Friday of every month.

Cons

Below average salary, too many micro managers, no loyalty to employees, no benefit to staying long term with this company, most employees get experience and move on and the company makes no effort to retain them, high turnover. No bonuses, no raises, weak severance package, inadequate training

Pros

Medical/Dental/Vision are the best I have ever seen. Good work/life balance. It is very dificult to get fired. Free lunch once a month.

Cons

The pay is low. If you have a college degree you will not be paid a competitive salary. No raises for the past three years, and until Hanjin starts making money again dont expect one. No unified strategy/vision for the company. I worked here for 6 months before I even heard the vision statement "become the global logistics leader". Though how they expect to achieve this must be reserved for the Korean circle because they never told us. There is no corporate culture, leadership or professional development to be found at Hanjin. This is a "punch the clock" job. Understand that this is a Korean company and that they do things differently. Promotion is based on age/time with the company, not performance. Though there are some good managers, you will see some incompetent people promoted to manager roles (at the local and HQ level). Performance targets are so unrealisitic, no one even attempts to achieve them. This may be the only company in the world that doesnt pay their sales people comission. Koreans are staffed in local offices that report straight to Seoul, rather than through North America HQ. This creates confusing multiple chains of command, and basically any American manager can be bypassed at any time, which gives the impression that the Americans cant be trusted and must be watched at all times. People generally stay here from 1-3 years and move on to a higher paying job. Turnover is very high, and morale is low. Management will not offer you a dime more if you get a job offer, regardless of your performance or the amount of money you have made/saved the company. No action has ever been taken to correct the turnover issue, and Hanjin is willing to dish out insane amounts of cash constantly hiring new people. There is no oportunity for career growth, and there is a cap in HQ for how far you can go unless you are Korean.

Pros

@HJS Singapore alot of dine and wine. almost every month there is an excuse to splurge on golf, expensive restaurants (Korean of course) or KTV. The Korean expats are living it up in Singapore and some welfare trickle down to the locals. Good IT system and nice office environment.

Cons

'Home staff' are treated like royalty and limited promotion opportunities for locals. Incompetent managers who promote base on 'your time's up for promotion' and not by merit. Incompetent workers get promoted. Talented employees leave for competitors, as such very high turnover and HJS basically is a doormat for a career in the liner business. No clear direction and too many managers to report to, each with differing views. HJS pays one of the lowest salaries in SE Asia for a top 10 carrier.
