Pros

Great location. People are really friendly - very much a family feel within the office.

Cons

Archaic, hierarchical company culture. Directors are treated with a reverence that they rarely deserve, and lower level consultants rarely have the power or inclination to push back on poor decisions. Long hours, commission structure isn't great. If you don't hit your quarterly threshold you will carry the deficit into your next quarter. There are significant differences between teams, so research the specific team you're thinking about joining carefully. Different teams will reward different personality types.

Don't be fooled by the 'culture'

Pros

Music on in the office (same songs everyday) dress down environment, water on tap and it's in central London so good transport links. Also great if you love hearing Z list celebs name dropped into conversations.

Cons

Most of the Directors are unpleasant and untrustworthy, often whispering to each other and you can hear them saying nasty and personal things about other people in the office. You get to work with well known brands, but the low fees, non-exclusivity on jobs, low salaries and commission means it's not really worth it. No progression, training is terrible, Directors are dinosaurs living in the past and the culture is incredibly false and pretentious. Commission is below market rate. The client list is good, but the good clients are account managed so unless you have been there years you won't get to work with them. You will be dealing with the scraps.

Leaving felt like ending a relationship!

Pros

From the moment I first interviewed at handle I knew there was something unique about them and I wanted to be a part of it! After a few years working in a heavily KPI driven corporate agency I was keen for something different and handle couldn't have been more accommodating on my quest for just that. They went over and above to support me and offer me opportunities beyond anything I'd experienced before. The benefits are good, as is reward & recognition and the annual all company events are such a treat! I honestly can't sing their praises enough; such a fantastic bunch of people who are great at what they do and the most relationship driven agency I've ever had the pleasure of working for or, more recently, with.

Cons

Coming from such a corporate environment I was desperate for a more relaxed way of working and initially loved that about handle. However, sometimes I felt the lack of KPIs quite hard and definitely think they shouldn't be shunned altogether as they provide clarity and focus, especially for newer and more junior consultants.
