      Wealth and Stress

Jul 23, 2021 - Senior Systems Administrator in New York, NY

      Pros

Some of the best benefits in the industry. Excellent compensation. Excellent opportunities to advance personal wealth, ie; 401k options, bonuses, salary increases, wealth management/saving advice for employees. Great bonuses if you can keep up with the unbelievable fast pace and rapid learning requirements.

      Cons

Can only comment on the NY/NJ region…. Long hours, stress, very fast paced environment, nasty and rotten management, STRESS, a lot of weekend and evening work with no time off, very poor advancement opportunities although they have internal mobility programs there’s no oversight. Much of the management has a “god complex”. Save all your emails - a lot of amnesia and denials from coworkers. Definitely a snake pit work culture.

Not diverse with mostly a white staff

      Pros

I liked the family atmosphere and teamwork that was present a few years ago. I liked that they were making efforts to address this lack of female representation on the planner and account manager positions (his is a banking institution and there is little diversity in the management positions of mostly white males.)

      Cons

There has always been an large issue with nepotism in the recruitment and advancement process. Family and friends have a better chance of getting a job and promotions if you know someone important here, not necessarily based on the quality of your work.

      Interviewing for Software Engineer

      Pros

I know that it is a great company but I didn't see it coming that way and it's disappointing that they couldn't live upto their name in the market.

      Cons

Poor hiring team Very weak internal communication system Never got back with their decision on how I did at the interview. (the sad part was I did very well and the interviewer was impressed too. All the testcases by my code in the coding round) They lost track of when my interview was, who's the interviewer and his decision from the interview. Infact the hiring team was supposed to keep track of these and get back to the candidates instead they were asking all these details of when, who, how details from me. I contacted and followed up the max I could do and I contacted the team lead too on this but of no use.

Under the right management you are looked after

Apr 20, 2021 - Executive Director in London, England, England
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - given a lot of responsibility and exposure at a very junior level - shape your own career - but caveat this with, you can only do this with 'a network' - private medical benefits - under the right people, you will fly

      Cons

      - too much of the 'in crowd' mentality rather than on performance - so if you aren't GS through and through, this will be a huge barrier to overcome - under the wrong manager it is hell on Earth - you can have worked so hard but if the manager wants to not compensate you vs their favourites, they won't - too many white men / women in powerful positions - old boys club - no black partner in EMEA so not enough differentiation in senior management population - HR regional differences i.e EMEA too conservative vs US HQ - look at diversity as a tickbox / PR stunt - internally not great - talkers go very far - pointless reorgs that frustrate and confuse everyone - aren't executed well and 'cogs in big machine' left to deal with it - the name doesn't mean what it did anymore - comp not reflective of firms performance - readjusted comp system which is geared towards favouritism (white people winning all situations)
