I have been working at Facebook full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Incredible benefits - Excellent compensation that rewards strong performance - Lots of autonomy - Tons of room for growth - Very transparent from the top down - Strong leadership - Intelligent and caring colleagues - The most fair and well thought out review process you will find everywhere - Exciting work

    Cons

    - If you don't learn to make the work life balance work for you, it can be exhausting. But you'll also be given lots of support with this if you ask for it. - It doesn't matter how good you are at your job, chances are you're going to be surrounded by a ton of other people who are just as good if not better. Imposter syndrome is real, but if you got an offer, you probably belong here too.

I have been working at Facebook full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The part of the company culture I like the most is that you get to do what you are good at, and, love doing. This makes absolute sense to me. I’ve worked in several tech companies, and all of them, without exception, want you to focus on ‘improving’ what you are bad at. I’m a data junky. When I swim in code and data, I’m most at ease and happy, and hopefully I do good work there. I know that no matter how many workshops and training you put me thru, I’ll never be as good a speaker as some of my teammates whom I adore and respect deeply. Nor am I inspired to be one! It’s just not in me. When I first came onboard 6 years ago and heard about this guiding principle, I had to do a double take. I decided right there and then, that I’ll work here for as long as they would let me. Over the years I witnessed and experienced many other aspects of this most amazing workplace culture, some of which the company is really pioneering. In my opinion, letting people do what they are good at and love to do is a win-win. The company gets best work I have to offer, and I get, well, everything else. ☺

    Cons

personally, i think the company is growing too big too fast, though i'm not sure it's necessarily a con. i understand this growth is out of necessity of hiring a troop to review the content on our apps. i'm just not sure what the long-term effect will be, especially when you are judged if your do and judged if you don't. i grew up in a dictatorship and know what sensoring could do to society (i still have nightmares about that). but i guess no one knows what will happen in the long run as the company is pioneering on so many fronts in uncharted waters.
