Pros

HQ provides management opportunities to inexperienced candidates. Employees are lead to give financial contributions to the many fundraising opportunities organized and monitored by management. The employees that are highly favored and willing to confirm will receive the proper training, advancement opportunities and generous pay increases. The CEO is approachable and transparent.

Cons

The culture does not allow for diversity of work style or patterns of thinking. Conformity to the culture is established and honored through development, recognition and bonuses. All employees are required to open an account with the credit union and are rewarded for their willingness to open other accounts and/or apply for loan products.

Pros

They do have a welcoming atmosphere. The HR team is amazing! The recruiter I’m not a fan of. Things I’ve seen when people come to interview is your look is heavily weighted. If you have tattoos or vibrant hair colors or styles they won’t bother. Even if you’re willing to adjust your “appearance” . They are conservative. Some branches have wonderful leadership. Leaderships is favored... however if they don’t like you., you can become stuck in certain positions. I’ve seen people fighting to get into the MIT programs... but they would rather hire new blood because to them thats where the difference comes from! Some in leadership are simply there because daddy knows someone... she knows who she is and she’s the laziest manager they have, but no one wants to challenge them on her or merits or lack there of! So no matter the abuse that spills out- I’ve seen people put down as a form or “humor” I’ve seen employees taken advantage of because they want to excel! I’ve seen employees set up for failure, I’ve seen and heard members file complaints on managers for their behavior or how aggressive they are and like I said management never gets in trouble for their actions or lack of... so it’s just a talking from upper management! Forum management takes a lot of effort to get fired or walked out.. so it’s employees vs managers.. versus policies.... with that in mind... my experience is that my Management in my region will help you learn and grow. But after a certain point unless you have a degree you’re capped off. Benefits aren’t great. I like how they think it’s awesome! It’s not, and emergency visit cost me $9000 my insurance covered nothing! I had the “best” plan but the deductible has to be met before anything is covered! Very high deductibles, incentives are accomplishable, they are Salesy, they operate like a big bank mentality... not a CU mentality meaning their bottom dollar matters and they like to keep their board of directors happy. You have to sell the products! And they expect it or you will be weeded out! It’s in your contract!! I will say that the CEO, CFO, COO they are amazing, wonderful humble people! Unfortunately I can’t say the same for some of those under them (my exception are the AVP also amazing and great people that are completely in touch with other their branches!) In the process of making sure everything is running efficiently I feel the HQ has lost touch with branches and branches are often the last appreciated employees! I know it sounds contrary to what I said previously but again they care about their board being more happy at this point! Branches are the face! You should find ways to be creative and show more appreciation towards them! You should hold your managers accountable for their actions or lack of! Your team is your family there! If you don’t fit in and quick and learn- adapt bet you won’t be there long!

Cons

Super sales team! They expect something out of nothing. Benefits are a joke! Used to be better. I wish you wouldn’t hold a person with a degree over a good employee. They don’t have expanding areas like they claim they do. Managers have to like you- meaning you need to know someone to move up. Build relationships and use them to your advantage. People will step on you to make themselves look good. If certain people don’t like you- you aren’t moving anywhere for a long time! Branches run independently and pretty on paper... each manager makes their own rules unless their being watched by regional and AVPs.. like I said before one manager is there because daddy knows someone! And she doesn’t even acknowledge “lower” employees. She is by far one of the most stuck up people on the planet and they wonder why her branch keeps turning over.. It is what it is...
