Great work life balance, but that's probably it.
Pros
- Work life balance, no OT culture, flexible work schedule wfh once a week of a day of your choice. - Company encourages transparency and open communication between management. - Not very hierachical. Management is easy and nice to talk to. - Robust projects in sustainable real estate. - Happy hours every Friday, not compulsory and they don't force you to come, it is a nice way to interact with colleagues not within your department. Quite nice to talk to bosses as well. - Robust and sometimes ambitious with their goals in sustainable real estate. - Most colleagues are generally quite chill, and friendly to talk to.
Cons
- Yearly salary increments are limited to 5-7% at the end of the year. - Salary is negotiable for adjustments, but no adjustments can be done mid year due to yearly budget being already fixed. Being an SME, they will usually just go for the "market rate". Although I am very glad that upper management is still very open to negotiate and won't just immediately turn you down. And I do appreciate that my supervisor in Marketing will do her best to fight for the raise. Unfortunately, even after the raise, it is still below the market rate for my role. - Half Malaysians and half others. They tend to favour hiring in Malaysia as most projects are in Malaysia. They still do hire Singaporeans though, Although the presumption comes that Singaporeans are more expensive to hire. - In marketing atleast, you are quite spread thin like a generalist with quite a few side quests that sometimes you wonder why it is on your plate but being in a small team, it is bound to happen. SOPs are still developing and we are still exploring new kinds of projects to do in marketing, so prepare to learn on the go and self initiate, as you are trusted as the expert. This is probably not the place for mentorship or major career progression as you don't really learn from an experienced person in the industry, it is mostly self learnt and with lots of experimentation which can be time consuming. - Workload is a okay and manageable, but sometimes it would be nice if I could dedicate all my time to improving graphic design and video producing from an actual expert in the industry, instead of figuring it out on my own. Company does support self learning courses though, but it needs to come with a good reason, and if they are sponsoring you, it will come with a bond.
